Stephen LaPorte and I are hosting an informal discussion in San Francisco on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 on the state of the wiki universe. We’re hoping to get a group of people actively working in the wiki world as well as “old timers” in the community (you know who you are, and we want to see you there) and people who simply love wikis to come together to discuss the following questions:
- What’s happening right now?
- What’s changed?
- What’s the future that we’d like to see?
It will be held at the Wikimedia Foundation (149 New Montgomery Street, 3rd Floor, San Francisco) from 6:30-9pm.
In the spirit of wikis, it will be an open and participatory gathering, and we’re expecting interesting people to attend. We’ll pull together funds to order pizza and drinks.
Please feel free to spread the word and bring guests. Just be sure to RSVP in the comments below so that we know how many to expect.
Might be able to come!
I'll be there!
Fantastic! I'll be there!

RSVP from LocalWiki!
Woohoo! So happy to see that all of you can make it! Getting lots of interest on Twitter as well. This will be really great!
Two from the TWiki/Foswiki world.
I'll be there. Just discussion? Should I do a short presentation of there TWiki is heading?
Glad you and your colleague will be able to join us, Peter! We won't likely have presentations, but there will definitely be opportunities to share your perspective on the wiki ecosystem in small group conversation.
Feel like I should jump on a plane to attend the Evernote conference and then stay a week for the wiki wed. Dang kids.

Wish you could too, Bill!
There's been interest expressed by several people outside of San Francisco about WikiWednesday. That's exciting; it seems to indicate that the community is still alive and well and is ripe for activation. I wanted to offer two thoughts:
First, WikiWednesday was always a global, decentralized event. There's still time to organize one in your area. It seems like Montreal in particular is ripe for this.
Second, Regis Barondeau asked (via Twitter) if there will be remote participation for the San Francisco event. Other than people sharing via Twitter and blogs, I had not planned anything, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. If you have ideas for what we might do, please share them below!
Count 1+
Thanks.
Peter asked about lightning talks — that does seem like it would be fun, for this one or a future edition 🙂 I'm really looking forward to seeing all the "old timers"!
I'll be there.
