The Real Work: A Poem by Wendell Berry

A weekend gift from a chain of friends: Nancy White, who saw it from Jerry Michalski. This poem, “The Real Work,” is by Wendell Berry:

It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,

and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.

The mind that is not baffled is not employed.

The impeded stream is the one that sings.

  1. I like this. Every time I feel impeded, I will think, "I am singing."

  2. Thanks for sharing this Wendell Berry poem. I am a huge Berry fan and have written an article inspired by Berry here: http://www.novasights.com/2011/09/11/unplugging-c….

    Love to know your thoughts…
