Node IDs (NID)

NIDs are unique, immutable addresses attached to "nodes" -- significant pieces of a document. When displayed, node IDs are usually surrounded by parentheses.    (07)

For example, in this slide, each paragraph is considered a "node," and every node has an ID. The NID of this paragraph is "02".    (02)

NIDs are equivalent to Statement IDs (SID) in Augment, and follow the same format: A positive integer preceded by a zero.    (05)

Note that the NIDs on this page are not ordered. This is fine; they just have to be unique.    (06)
