Purchasing an iPad for Mom's 70th birthday. I'm going to get her the Belkin Grip Vue case and Screen Overlay. Reviews:

I'll also get some sleeve for transport.

I considered the Incipio Feather Ultralight, but I think Mom would prefer a case with better protection.

If I were to get one for myself, I'd strongly consider the DODOcase and the Tom Bihn Cache for transport.
