The last time I talked to Ken was when I ran into him at the first Lightweight Languages Workshop at MIT in 2001. (See my writeup for Dr. Dobb's Journal -- password is required.) Ken made an offhand observation that I thought was brilliant: spreadsheets are functional languages.
