Hierarchical IDs (HID)

HIDs follow an outline-style addressing scheme. A node's HID represents the location of that node in the document's hierarchy.    1   (01)

In this slide, every paragraph and list item has both an NID and an HID. Because this paragraph is the second node in the top-level of the hierarchy, its HID is "2". Addresses alternate between numbers and letters at each level.    2   (02)

  • This bulleted item is the first subnode of the second node of the top level of this document's hierarchy. Thus, this node has an HID of "2A".    2A
  • This bulleted item has an HID of "2B".    2B   (04)

HIDs are equivalent to structural statement numbers in Augment. They are usually displayed in italics just before the NID.    3   (05)
