Eric has been programming and writing professionally since before there were personal computers. His production experience includes artificial intelligence (AI) programs, system libraries, real-time programs, and business applications in a variety of languages. He works as a consultant at Sun's Java Software division, and he is a contributor to JavaWorld. He wrote The JBuilder2 Bible and authored Sun's Java/XML programming tutorial. Eric is also involved in efforts to design next-generation collaborative discussion/decision systems. In his spare time, he is building a learn-by-ear, see-how-to-play-it music teaching program.    (012)

Sheldon is a widely-known interaction designer skilled in human-computer interaction, interface, and graphics. With one foot in research and the other in business and production, he has been able to do groundbreaking work and pioneer many of the areas that are now taken for granted, such as Multimedia/New Media, Computer Based Training, Electronic Publishing & Pre-Press, Computer Based Animation & Editing, and Learning Technologies, both independently and while working in the Advanced Technology Group at Apple Computer. He has been a practicing psychologist, and was founder of Nighthawk Productions.    (014)

Eugene Eric Kim    (05)
Eugene, the founder of the Launch Community, is a freelance writer, consultant, and programmer. He has contributed to a number of publications, including Scientific American and the Encyclopedia of Computers and Computer History (Fitzroy Dearborn 2001). In addition to his freelance work, he writes the Bookmarks column for Web Techniques. Previously, he served as the Senior Technical Editor at Dr. Dobb's Journal, the leading magazine for software developers. He is the author of CGI Developer's Guide (Sams.net 1996), and is currently writing a book on the history of free software entitled Software, Money, and Liberty: How Source Code Became Free. Eugene received an A.B. in History and Science from Harvard University in 1996.    (019)
